IT Specialist

Our Client is currently seeking an IT Specialist to join their Team, based in Durban. Ideally someone with an IT application in Pension Fund Administration / Financial Services environment background.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  3 Year University Degree / Diploma (non-negotiable)
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: B Degree or equivalent - Information Technology related
 
MINIMUM PERIOD OF EXPERIENCE: 3 years incorporating desktop support, server support, business support, procurement processes, project management and system implementations and maintenance
 
Duties:
Physical Infrastructure
  • Ensure maintenance and availability of hardware infrastructure:
  • Servers, data storage, desktops, laptops, printers and scanners
  • Ensure maintenance and availability of networking infrastructure:
  • Wireless, leased lines, Fibre, switches, firewall
  • Control and report on assets to support upgrade and scalability planning
  • Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure warranties up to date
 
IT Platform
  • Ensure operating systems, server software and application systems are maintained in terms of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure software licenses remain current and compliant
  • Ensure SLAs adhered to, any deviations noted, and remedial action taken
 
Business Processes
  • Ensure accurate definition and configuration of user's Role Based Access Controls (RBACs) within IT systems corresponding to their responsibilities, and business policies and procedural requirements
  • Ensure that the process of continuous improvement (of business processes) is supported
   
Governance and Risk Management
  • Ensure IT policies and procedures are understood by users and service providers, complied with, any deviations noted, and reported to management
  • Ensure non-disclosure agreements in place for end-users and service providers prior to engagement
  • Conduct regular software, systems, and hardware audits
  • Ensure Disaster Recovery (DRP) and back-up plans are updated and tested
  • Ensure fire protection equipment, evacuation plans, building security and physical and systems' access are maintained
 
 
User Support
  • Identify organisational and individual training needs
  • Provide first-line software and hardware support
  • Arrange maintenance and repairs as per user support programme
  • Facilitate ongoing process of user competency and skill development
 
Documentation  
  • Change & Development Control maintained and adhered to
  • Ensure complete documentation records are continuously maintained in respect of all of the above
